The Meiji RZ series of advanced, high performance, modular stereomicroscopes are specifically designed for today's demanding industrial applications.

The RZ is engineered around a common main objective and parallel optical paths. The result is crisp, distortion free high resolution images at magnifications ranging from x3.75 to x300. The microscope body features a 10:1 zoom ration and has in built variable double iris diaphragms to assist with depth of focus, and positive click stops at 12 positions of the magnification range for position identification

The zoom function is actually achieved by two perpendicular columns of eight zoom lenses in four groups, and a coaxial coarse and fine focus mechanism with a 50mm focusing range is provided for extremely smooth and precise focus control.

Both ergonomic and standard heads are available. The ergonomic head features low position eyetubes and is adjustable vertically from 10° to 50° for comfortable fatigue free use. The standard head is inclined at 45° with interpupillary adjustment ranging from 46mm to 75mm. Distortion free, ultra widefield eyepieces with independent dioptric adjustment are available in several magnifications and can be provided with graticule inserts.

The RZ is a very much a modular system with a range of stand options that includes plain (illustrated), transmitted light and bright field/dark field transmitted light stand together with universal long arm boom stand options.

There is also a complete range of graduated mechanical stages to fit all stand types including plain and illuminated with a excellent large gliding stage featuring a large work surface of 390mm x 270mm as an accessory  for the long arm stands.

There is an equivalent range of choice for illumination with dual arm fibre optics being the method of choice for incident lighting with annular fibre optic options for vertical illumination. The RZ is a particularly useful instrument for the higher magnifications more usually associated with high power compound microscopes, and a coaxial illumination module that fits beneath the stereo viewing head is an excellent accessory for reflective specimens such as integrated circuit boards. The coaxial illuminator directs light from a 6v 30watt halogen lamp down through the objective onto the specimen. Because of the increased optical path, the coaxial illuminator increases the magnification by x1.5.

There are photography and CCTV  attachments that include 35mm and large format together with C mount couplers.
