Learning how to properly use a microscope of any type is an expertise that is partly intuitive but also needs specific knowledge about the instrument’s component parts. Making slide preparations however is a different level of skill and it can take several years to become fully proficient in for example tissue sectioning and staining. Even learning how to coverslip a slide with the various mountant options needs practice.
