Meiji whole blood analysis microscope 50 watt light source Kohler illumination Inverted objective nosepiece
The Meiji ML 5000 series are robust industrial microscopes finished to a very high standard. The light source is a 12 volt 50 watt unit attached to the back of the microscope in order to control the heat gain. This makes the microscope an ideal instrument for dark ground and phase contrast applications, and the trinocular ML5950 has become the microscope of choice for “live blood analysis” applications within Europe and North America.`
Similarly it is an ideal microscope for photography applications of all types, with the high wattage Kohler illumination system providing the flexibility for all aspects of photomicrography, CCTV and computer applications.
The ML5000 series instruments have an inverted quintuple
nosepiece with a smooth operating ball bearing mount. For bright field use the series has an achromatic (NA 1.25) condenser with iris diaphragm and filter tray.

A particular feature is the large rectangular mechanical stage with drop down co-axial controls. Planachromat objectives are fitted as standard and offer x4, x10, x20, x40 and x100(oil) options. For whole blood analysis the instrument can either be fitted with a Zernike phase contrast system or an excellent dark ground condenser with a specific x100 objective with inbuilt iris diaphragm.

The co-axial coarse and fine focus controls have a graduation reading in 2 microns. The total focus range covers 35mm and the movement runs in extra wide precision ball-bearing hardened steel tracks. Tension adjustment and safety auto focus stop units are fitted as standard

The specific feature of the Meiji ML5000 series is the flexibility, both in optical performance and image capture systems. We believe that at this budget there is no other microscope that can offer the flexibility and excellent results with both phase contrast and dark ground microscopy.

The resolving power of the objectives is particularly important when examining the background of whole blood smears, and the quality of the Meiji objectives is very evident in this part of the examination procedure. For dark ground examination, a high quality planachromatic x100 objective with integral iris diaphragm is supplied both with this microscope and the Brunel Haemascope.

The Meiji ML5000 series microscopes have been developed specifically for whole blood analysis, they are also ideal for applications relating to photography, including CCTV, 35mm SLR, digital still cameras and digital camcorders because of the flexible lighting system.
