Asbestos identification and removal is now a highly regulation procedure that requires the use of specialised microscopes for the examination of gross specimens (Stereomicroscopes), the identification of the type of asbestos (Polarising microscopes - PLM) and fibre counting after removal (Phase Contrast  - PCM).
