The Brunel SP-105F is our ‘flag ship’ inverted fluorescence microscope that produces a superior microscopic image, providing an outstanding performance and great value for money. The fluorescence cubes use superior quality filters that include bandpass barrier filters that reduce colour bleeding significantly. The SP105F represents a new generation of infinity colour corrected optical systems with widefield high eyepoint eyepieces and plan achromatic objectives, The microscope body has an ergonomic design and the optical system has a notable long working distance.

Three series of objectives are available with the SP105F and the exact configuration can be chosen to suit the application.

LPLAN - long working distance plan colour corrected objectives specifically designed for living cell cultures that also have a good performance with fluorescence observation.

LPAN PH - long working distance infinity phase contrast objectives. In addition to good bright field observation these objectives have been developed to show much improved relief, image contrast and resolution.

LPLAN-FLUOR - these are infinity plan semi-apochromatic fluorescence objectives with a high numerical aperature and excellent aberration correction. The objectives have wideband multicoating technology

LPLAN-FLPH - infinity plan semi-apochromatic phase contrast fluorescence objectives that give excellent results with bright field, phase contrast and fluorescence.

The mechanical stage has a movement range of 120 x78mm and a range of pre shaped camps are available to fit the more common cell culture vessels and plates. There is also an insert that will accommodate a standard 3 x “ microscope slide. The entire mechanical stage assembly can be removed easily by releasing two thumb screws on the underside of the stage.

The transmitted illumination is 6v 30watt and the condenser housing has a slot for the insertion of the appropriate phase rings for phase contrast.

The fluorescence filter blocks are housed in a switching mechanism. The SP105F has three fluorescence channels and a single bright field channel. The filters supplied as standard have the characteristic shown on the graphs towards the end of this web page. Custom cubes can be supplied at additional cost. The SP105F has as standard a mercury lamp power supply and control system with an inbuilt protection system. If the side door to the lamp housing is not properly closed, the power circuit to the DC mercury lamp will be automatically cut avoiding the escape of UV light. The digital power control system has a current and total working time display with a reset button and safety trigger.

The SP105F can also be supplied or retro fitted with CoolLED units pE-100, pE-300 and pE-7000.

The microscope body has a coaxial focus system with tension adjustment and excellent fine adjustment precision of 0.002mm

We can supply a number of camera units ideally suited to fluorescence work. The choice depends on budget and application. Black and white CCD chip cameras provide the best resolution and we have both standard and cooled units.

The images above were taken with a non cooled Sony CCD black and white chip unit and the colours restored and images stacked using software
